This year the York Area Group of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In an initiative by Martyn Jones, part of the celebrations were to hold a fund raising event at St Crux Church Hall on August 22nd at which we raised £420. We were delighted to welcome York's Civic Party who joined us for refreshments along with former chairman, John Meredith, who has done so much for the group and been with it for all of its existence. The event was well attended and is likely to become our main fund raiser. We hope it will now become a regular fixture in the groups activities and thank everyone for supporting us on the day.
